Contributors are invited to a special issue of The International Journal of the History of Sport (IJHS) dedicated to original genealogies of fantasy sport.
This issue’s main objective is to examine the historical, economic, political, and social forces that spurred the emergence of fantasy sport and its growth into the international phenomenon that it is today. The special issue will be interdisciplinary in nature and welcome sport scholarship from a variety of disciplines including, but not limited to, communication studies, journalism, media studies, sport management, philosophy, American studies, and law. Of particular interest are historical analyses of fantasy sport that offer unique perspectives on sport and fandom, as well as on the various cultures related to them.
If you have any questions, feel free to email prof. Andrew J. Ploeg at firstname.lastname@example.org
Deadline for abstract submissions: February 15th, 2019
