Great success of the 2019 CESH Congress in Lausanne

It was a great pleasure to be in Lausanne for the CESH 2019 congress.

Many thanks to Patrick Clastres, Quentin Tonnerre and all their team from the University of Lausanne for this successful congress. Thanks also to the participants and speakers for their contributions to get a so stimulating scientific event. Great experience to have the annual Gala Dinner at the Olympic Museum Café.

 

We are looking forward to meeting you again in Lisbon next year.

Il 15 settembre 1919 nasceva uno dei ciclisti più forti di tutti i tempi: il “campionissimo” Fausto Coppi. La definitiva esplosione della sua carriera coincise con alcuni dei momenti chiave della storia d’Italia: la ricostruzione del secondo dopoguerra e il boom economico. Il ciclismo e i suoi due maggiori rappresentanti, Fausto Coppi e Gino Bartali, senza dimenticare il terzo uomo Fiorenzo Magni, divennero l’emblema dell’Italia che voleva ricostruire: il pedalare nella fatica dei ciclisti ben si sovrapponeva con il lavoro che la popolazione italiana sostenne per recuperare in tempi brevi condizioni di vita normali, lontane dai disastri della Guerra. Fu anche grazie a campioni come Fausto Coppi che il ciclismo consolidò il suo primato di sport più seguito in Italia per tutti gli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta. La centralità del ciclismo nella vita sociale degli italiani fece sì che il coinvolgimento per la bicicletta non si limitasse ai soli sportivi ma comprendesse anche interessi politici, economici e culturali.

Great success of the 2018 CESH Congress in Bordeaux

It was a great pleasure to be in Bordeaux for the CESH 2018 congress.

The International Society for the History of Physical Education and Sport (ISHPES) has launched the Call for Papers of its 19th International Congress to be held in Münster (Germany) in 2018, July 18-21. The general topic will be “Sport for All – History of a Vision Around the World”.
